On 21 April, 2017, our country celebrates Kartini Day, Raden Ajeng Kartini is one of woman figures in Indonesia that initiated women equality because of that time women were very oppressed especially in education. However, in health, Indonesia as a developing country, the women here still lack of right to access health service.
Several health problem faced by women in Indonesia are:
1. Death from pregnancy and giving birth
In Indonesia, women’s death caused by pregnancy and giving birth is still high. It is caused by low education level for women in middle-low class who do not realize the importance of health during pregnancy and giving birth with an expert of medical staffs.
2. Contraception
Postponing pregnancy is women’s right. Nowadays, for Indonesian women from middle low class, using contraception is still a contradictory thing for the husband. Therefore, the women just simply surrender and accept the fact that they are pregnant. Actually, pregnancy should be planned well with periodically health check up.
3. Nutrients
Indonesian women, especially housewives from low class, prioritize nutrients for her children and working husband. As the result, they just consume what’s left that caused them to lack in nutrients. Therefore, they have to experience anemia because of lacking nutrients.
4. Sexual Disease
There are so many Indonesian women who do not know sexual disease. They just receive the transmission of the sexual disease from their husband, such as gonorrhea and HIV. It causes the women infected to transmit this disease to the baby if they are pregnant.
5. TB
Until now, the patients of TB are mostly men, but the number of TB patients on women are actually quite high. However, those women chose to stay at home because of the economy reason, so that the money is preferably used for other purposes.
Actually there are more health problems in Indonesian women. The role of women is so huge in educating and nurturing the kids as the future of this country.
