DR. GIDEON HARTONO (THE CHAIRMAN OF PT. K-24 INDONESIA) STARTS NEW ACADEMIC YEAR 2015/2016 FOR PELITA BANGSA HEALTH VOCATIONAL SCHOOL (SMK KESEHATAN PELITA BANGSA)
Monday (27/7), located in the integrated campus of K-24 Academy, Jl. Godean KM 1, Tambak Kav-24, Bantul, Yogyakarta, dr. Gideon Hartono (the chairman of PT. K-24 Indonesia) started the new academic year 2015/2016 at SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa.
SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa is a part of PT. K-24 Indonesia that graduates young candidates for pharmacist assistant for Apotek K-24. The new academic year of this school was started with New Students Orientation Period (MOPDB) with 42 students of batch 3.
MOPDB aimed to introduce SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa and pharmacy vocational program, to help new students to know more about the teachers of SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa so that there will be conducive academic climate, to give understanding to run the rules and norms, to build positive character for students in order to strengthen nationalism spirit, and to give the sense of proud for the students toward their alma mater
The activities started with flag ceremony, speech delivering about the vision and mission of SMK Pelita Bangsa, knowledge about pharmacy vocational program and the needs of pharmacist assistant, outdoor activities (games, environmental cleaning, herbal planting) and finished with visiting Apotek K-24 Gejayan and Gondomanan, Yogyakarta.
As the national franchise retail pharmacy which has more than 330 outlets in Indonesia, the success of Apotek K-24 cannot be separated from the role of human resources. Without human resources, it is impossible for the company to run well. Therefore, the company did various efforts including establishing educational organization to educate young generation as the candidates of company’s human resources.
Having life motivation to keep working in health and education sectors is dr. Gideon Hartono’s inspiration to establish a pharmaceutical school named SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa. This school is focused on Pharmacist assistant program study. It was established on 24 May 2013 through Pelita Indonesia Foundation. SMK Pelita Bangsa has special mission to produce human resources with quality and reliable according to the culture and character of Apotek K-24.
In his speech, dr. Gideon explained that his motivation to establish SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa is a will to participate in fulfilling labors for pharmacist assistant independently, also contributing in producing qualified pharmacist assistant. Besides, in line with its vision and mission, SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa is expected to produce graduated students who are integrated, competent, also capable to participate in improving Indonesia’s citizen health with the sense of love to the homeland.
“Skilled and sophisticated!” is the slogan of SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa. In this school, students are not only directed to learn academic knowledge (the competence in pharmacy, computer technique, and retail business) but also to learn soft skill which is needed by all human resources.
For Pharmacist assistant skill, the students of SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa have to be able to read doctors’ prescription for at least 10.000 sheets which are collected from K-24 outlets in across Indonesia. Therefore, in the working world, they are already used to the prescription, skilled, and show professional performance.
Besides complete and modern facilities, SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa has qualified teaching team which consists of the practitioners of Apotek K-24, Hi-Lab Diagnostic Center, also the practitioners from government health service organization and profession program. SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa creates a new breakthrough which is giving higher chance (45%) for practical work. The other benefit that differs this school from other pharmacy school is working guarantee after graduating.
The graduates of SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa is prepared to work directly at Apotek K-24 in across Indonesia. dr. Gideon Hartono also said, “I hope the graduates of SMK Kesehatan Pelita Bangsa will be able to work in K-24 circle. It is not only Apotek K-24, but also other fields such as medicine distribution, Hi-Lab, or medicine manufacturer we are building now.”
