APOTEK K-24 OPENS ORIGINAL MEDICINE POST SERVICE!

Apotek K-24 retail pharmacy in Indonesia is motivated to participate in stopping the trading of counterfeit medicine. Apotek K-24 commits to “sell original medicine only”. Apotek K-24 requires each outlet to purchase medicine from official supplier which is trusted and recommended by the head office.

Since the beginning, Apotek K-24 commits to sell original medicine only. In 2007. Apotek K-24 declared a program to fight counterfeit medicine with stakeholders (Franchisor, Pharmacy facilities owner, pharmacist & Pharmaceutical Wholesalers). Apotek K-24 also distributed brochures that tells people how to avoid counterfeit medicine. In each outlet of Apotek K-24, you will find sticker with “Apotek K-24 Hanya Jual Obat Asli (Apotek K-24 Sells Original Medicine Only)” written on it.

Along with the commitment of Apotek K-24 to fight against counterfeit medicine, on 8 February 2013, Apotek K-24 has participated to support government by signing the foundation of National Awareness Movement of Illegal Drugs and Foods (GN-WOMI) along with the Minister of Health, dr. Nafsiah Mboi, SpA, M.P.H, the chief of Indonesia National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM), Lucky S, Msc, the Ministry of Trade, Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim), and the Ministry of Communication and Information Indonesia.

On 17 December 2013, Apotek K-24 supported National Awareness Movement of Illegal Drugs and Foods (GN-WOMI) which was declared in all over Indonesia.

Apotek K-24 consistently fights against counterfeit drugs. Along with BPOM RI, this year Apotek K-24  is ready to serve people by giving information and telling people how to know original medicine by opening original medicine in all outlets of Apotek K-24.

In order to support and participate with BPOM to stop trading of counterfeit medicine, PT. K-24 Indonesia always tries to hold socialization for the pharmacist of Apotek K-24, in the relation of avoiding and identifying counterfeit medicine and how to report it to BPOM.

The chief of the Agency of Drug and Food Control in DIY, Dra. I Gusti Ayu Adhi Aryapatni, Apt. who joined pharmacist training held by  Apotek K-24 in the Hall of K-24 Academy, Jalan Tambak Km 1 Kav 24, Kasihan Bantul, Yogyakarta on Saturday (1/10) explained the definition of counterfeit and illegal medicine, “Illegal counterfeit medicine is the type of medicine without distribution permit which is unregistered and its safety, quality and benefits are yet to be clarified. Meanwhile, according to Law on Health No 36/2009 article 106, it is explained that pharmacy and medical devices can only be distributed after getting distribution permits,”

Hence, people have to be more careful in purchasing medicine. One of the ways is to check the code number of distribution permit displayed on the packaging of the medicine.

“Know the characteristics of counterfeit medicine. It does not have distribution permit or the NIE is not listed in BPOM, its shape, color, texture and packaging seems to be abnormal, and it does not have the name and address of the producers,” she explained.

Patient or public have the right to know the medicine they are going to consume. Therefore, the disease they suffer can be healed well.
