KALLA: BLOOD DEMAND IN INDONESIA IS 4.5 MILLION BAGS

Metrotvnews.com, Yogyakarta: The demand of blood in Indonesia now reaches 4.5 million bags per year. Meanwhile the bloods from the donator is just 3.5 million bags. “It is the task of Indonesia Red Cross Federation (PMI) to fulfill the need,” said the General Chief of PMI, Jusuf Kalla when inaugurating the chief and officers of PMI DIY periode 2011-2016, in Yogyakarta, Friday (19/8)


According to him, PMI tried hard to fulfill the need of blood so that everyone who needs blood will be covered, “One of the main tasks of PMI (Indonesia Red Cross Federation) is to do blood donation nationally. That task is country’s tasks that is mandated to PMI.” said the former vice president. That event was attended by the governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X. He said that all the elements of PMI have to join and act as a global campaign that invites people to do humanity action in various ways, such as being volunteer, planting trees, creating biopores holes, peer educator, donors, and blood donors voluntarily,” he said. In relation with that, according to him, the recently inaugurated PMI staffs can continue and increase the implementation of the former committee as the series of devotion to achieve grand mission for humanity. “We, as Province Government and the whole range of PMI DIY also sincerely thank and highly appreciate the help from PMI all this time, especially the help during pasca eruption of Merapi,” he said. The inauguration was symbolized by putting pin on the new chief of PMI DIY, Herry Zudianto, and 13 members, who are Achmad Atim Muttaqin, Sri Hadi, Tastim Sudiyanto, Dhoirul Anwar, Suryanto, Andi Wisnu Wicaksono, Kamaludin Hasibuan, Gideon Hartono, Sigit Alfianto, Lipur Riyantiningtyas, Endang Pudjiastuti, and Sapto Putro.(Ant/BEY)
