THE GUILTY FEELING BECAUSE OF THE PATIENTS GO HOME WITHOUT MEDICINE

Starting from his patient’s experience in getting medicine during the night or holiday with affordable price, dr. Gideon Hartono tried to establish a pharmacy business that opens for 24 hours non stop last 2002. The pharmacy which is called K-24 (complete and open for 24 hours -Red) was first established in Yogyakarta.

“People’s response were very positive, moreover we sell medicine with the same price even though the customers visit during the night or holiday,” he said.

MURI (Indonesia World Record Museum) even awarded a title for  Apotek K-24 as the first pharmacy chain that opens for 24 hours on last April 6.

Gideon’s idea to establish Apotek K-24 was based on the fact that there were many patients walking out from his clinic on 21.00, but they could only get the medicine on the next day. “Actually, it is very important for the patients to get the medicine as soon as possible,” he said.

As the devotion to people, Apotek K-24 also tried hard to fulfill all customers’ need. He was feeling guilty if the patients left his pharmacy without taking the medicine, “We want them to visit with prescription, and leave with medicine,” he said.

Now, the pharmacy under the management of PT. K-24 Indoneisa has four outlets in Yogyakarta which are located at Jl Magelang 162, Gejayan (Mrican) 19, Kaliurang Km 5/94, and Brigjen Katamso 117, and also an outlet at Jl Gajahmada 63, Semarang.

In order to develop his business to get closer to the people, since 2005 Gideon opened business opportunities so other people can open Apotek K-24 across Indonesia with franchise. “We have received proposal from many investors. As the first step, we will spread our wings in Java,” said Gideon.

While working, Gideon always tries to create conducive business climate. The staffs who were originated from various ethnic group and religions got the same treatment. (Ida N-73s)
