APOTEK K-24 VS CONVENTIONAL PHARMACY??

Now, franchise business is in the trend. Even pharmacy is also franchised, such as Apotek K-24, Century, and Guardian. Because I never bought medicine from Century or Guardian before, now I want to talk about Apotek K-24.

Now, Apotek K-24 can be found anywhere, especially in Jogja. If you go to Jl. Magelang, Jl. Gejayan, or Jl. Kaliurang, you will find Apotek K-24. It makes sense because this pharmacy was established in Yogyakarta, on October 2002 by dr. Gideon Hartono. The first outlet is located in Jl. Magelang.

If we see its logo, it is very simple and easy to remember. The logo of Apotek K-24 is the combination of green, yellow, red, and white with a capsule in the middle of it. K-24 is written on the capsule. K-24 refers to K=Komplit (complete) and 24=24 hours. It means Apotek K-24 is a pharmacy that opens for 24 hours.

Of course, Apotek K-24 is easier to remember compared to other pharmacies we see on the street. Conventional pharmacies usually do not use any logo. They just use white board with the name of pharmacy written on it.

From logo, it is possible that Apotek K-24 wins. From the service, Apotek K-24 applies excellent service. However, when I bought medicine from the nearby pharmacy, its service is not losing to Apotek K-24. The pharmacist were very humble. I went there not to buy medicine but only consulting about medicine but the pharmacist was still friendly. So, do not judge pharmacy from its exterior.

Unfortunately, this pharmacy did not open for 24 hours. When my brother needed medicine at 3 in the dawn, there was no pharmacy opened except Apotek K-24. Well, this pharmacy still opened even during holiday. Wow, Apotek K-24 won again.

Unfortunately again, people who have no background in pharmacy can open Apotek K-24. Obviously it is good news for business but bad news for pharmacist because the chance to open their own pharmacy is harder with the existence of Apotek K-24 as the competitor. As a pharmacist student, I am quite sad, because I want to open my own pharmacy in the future (one day, lol). Yeah, let’s just see Apotek K-24 as a trigger to be more creative and do not just copy others. So, for pharmacists and pharmacist students, do not be sad, ok?
